A look at the comfort foods we reach for, the trips that have stayed with us, and the shows, books, and music we are currently enjoying.
David
- Go-to comfort food: Anything salty or crunchy……like potato chips.
- Last great trip and why: May 2024 – Paris and Normandy Coast – why? the Seine, museums galore, a tribute to Canadians who served in WWII, French cuisine, and Sennelier (for those who love to draw and paint).
- Favourite movie/show/book/music you’re currently enjoying: TV show – almost any British murder mystery.
- Hidden talent: Speaking one or two words of French, Greek, and Croatian….and having people believe I speak those languages fluently.
Frank
- Go-to comfort food: My go to is a Body Energy Smooth acai berry smoothie loaded with all the good for you ingredients. It is one of those things that somehow manages to feel both healthy and comforting at the same time. A close second would definitely be anything Italian, especially a simple bowl of pasta or a wood fired pizza shared with friends.
- Last great trip and why: A recent trip to Palm Springs stands out. It was a rare chance to spend a few days with close friends, reconnect, laugh a lot, and step away from the usual pace of life. Sometimes the best trips are less about the destination and more about the conversations and memories that come with them.
- Favourite movie/show/book/music you’re currently enjoying: I recently read Breath by James Nestor and found it fascinating. It explores how something as simple as breathing properly can have a profound impact on health, sleep, and overall wellbeing. It is one of those books that quietly changes how you think about everyday habits.
- Hidden talent: I am not sure if it counts as a talent, but I have always enjoyed untangling complexity. Whether it is a financial situation, a life transition, or a tricky problem, I enjoy finding the patterns and helping people see a clearer path forward.
Adam
- Go-to comfort food: Curry in all its various forms but if I had to narrow it down, I’d choose a Thai red curry with prawns.
- Last great trip and why: Backpacking in Stone Mountain Provincial Park in Northern BC. The remoteness and beauty of the country up there will make you want to go back.
- Favourite movie/show/book/music you’re currently enjoying: After hearing from enough people, I’ve started the TV series Succession on Crave.
- Hidden talent: Cooking. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and take pride in being a decent home cook.
Ray
- Go-to comfort food: Gotta be Italian.
- Last great trip and why: I do try to only do epic trips, Japan March 2026 is the most recent. I chose Japan as it is the same time flying to meet up with my best friend who joined us from Sydney Australia.
- Favourite movie/show/book/music you’re currently enjoying: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. An amazing sci-fi book that is being made into a movie that is coming this summer.
- Hidden talent: Somehow I’m able to understand foreigners speaking English with wild accents that nobody else seems to be able to decipher.
